The Highbridge Farmers' Market Cookbook is a community-driven project that brings together local recipes from around the world, reflecting the diverse cultures and culinary traditions of the Highbridge neighborhood in the Bronx. This cookbook serves as both a practical resource and a cultural archive, highlighting the power of food in fostering connection and preserving heritage.
Design & Illustration
With a team of two other students, I designed the cookbook’s visual identity, layout, and cover illustration, ensuring a warm, welcoming aesthetic that mirrors the collaborative spirit of the project. The soft, earthy color palette and hand-drawn illustrations evoke a sense of tradition and homemade authenticity, while the thoughtful typography enhances readability and usability.
Community Impact
This cookbook was developed in collaboration with local residents and farmers, collecting recipes that highlight seasonal ingredients and culturally significant dishes. It serves as a testament to food’s role in storytelling and community-building, connecting neighbors through shared meals and collective histories.
